Not long now until the release date of Daredevil: Born Again, out on March 4. I would argue that marketing has almost been too saturated at this point, with every day some new image or clip or interview or even GIF coming out that is maybe overkill, but sure, whatever.

One news item that I think goes too far specifically is about a “devastating” moment that happens in the show, presumably early on, that a few cast members have talked about, including Matt Murdock himself, Charlie Cox. Here it is:

“There’s this thing that’s gonna happen that’s gonna upset a lot of people, it upset us too. When we signed on for the job, the decision had already been made,” said Cox. “I’m still not convinced it’s the right thing to do. But we have to come back big and bold…we’ve got to make a statement after all these years away, and what it does do is it’s a wonderful catalyst for the rest of the story.”

At this point, the hints almost seem too obvious, especially if you’ve been following along with production. It’s Foggy. It has to be the death of Foggy Nelson. Why?

Implying this was a decision made in the script stage before they even returned goes back to early reporting that the first, aborted version of the show had Karen Page and Foggy Nelson killed offscreen, driving Matt’s story forward to there (into what was mostly supposed to be a courtroom drama). But if some aspect of that stuck around, the idea is that this is still happening, but maybe onscreen. And likely just Foggy.

We could be guessing if this could be Karen, but unless Deborah Ann Woll is just flat-out lying, she will be returning for season 2: “I am deeply honored to be a part of the storyline that Dario [Scardapane]

has written,” that story being the one for season 2, which has now already entered production ahead of a 2026 release.

It is not impossible she’s lying, as we have seen that in superhero projects many times, albeit usually about a surprise appearance, not a death (Andrew Garfield!). But if that’s the case, who is left? It has to be Elden Henson’s Foggy, as there are no other good options. Who else would draw this sort of reaction from Cox, other than Nelson or the apparently not-viable Karen Page? Kingpin? Come on. Frank Castle? He’s getting his own streaming movie. There are just no other key characters here that make any amount of sense, so Foggy it is. He’s either dead, incredibly injured or again, Woll is just lying about it not being her. We will probably find out in a week given that this appears to be happening quite early on.
