In a boxing world suddenly filled with crossover fights and most every major boxing match taking place in Saudi Arabia, it’s rare to see a major bout happen between champions in their prime in the United States.

That’s what we have on Saturday, February 1 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The David Benavidez (29-0, 22 KO) will take on David Morrell (11-0, 8 KO) in a massive fight for the 175-pound division.

Benavidez comes in ranked No. 2 by the Ring Magazine in the light heavyweight division and Morrell is No. 8. The winner of Saturday’s fight would seemingly be in line to face Artur Beterbiev for the undisputed light heavyweight title–if he defeats Dmitry Bivol on February 22.

If Bivol wins, there could be a third fight between the two pound-for-pound contenders. In any case, Benavidez-Morrell is a big-time fight. Here’s how you can watch.

  • Date: Saturday, February 1
  • Time: 8pm ET
  • Location: T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas
  • TV/Stream: Amazon Prime and PPV.com

There’s been no shortage of tension between the two men throughout the build. Benavidez and Morrell got into a scuffle at a photo shoot which resulted in Morrell throwing his championship belt at Benavidez.

At Thursday’s presser, there was even more bad blood. Quite honestly, the fight looks so good on paper, the extra-curricular activity wasn’t necessary for purists. However, it might have pushed a few casuals to push the purchase button on PPV.com or Amazon Prime.

In addition to Benavidez-Morrell, the undercard is solid as well. Benavidez’s brother, Joseph Benavidez Jr., a former world-title challenger is on the card fighting Danny Rosenberger.

Undefeated prospect Curmel Moton is back in action against Frank Zaldivar. Jeison Rosario faces Jesus Alejandro Ramos Jr., Isaac Cruz faces Angel Fierro and in the co-main event, Brandon Figueroa will rematch Stephen Fulton.

Figueroa will be looking to avenge the only loss of his professional career, a majority decision defeat in November 2021. Fulton’s only loss was a eighth-round TKO defeat against Naoya Inoue. In the rematch, Figueroa and Fulton will be battling for the former’s WBC featherweight title.

Be on the lookout for fight and event coverage on Saturday night.
