Do you have a fondness for the golden years of memorable arcade classics from Bandai Namco and Capcom? Want to enjoy them all on some dedicated hardware with era-appropriate controls? Then My Arcade has a tempting trio of Gamestation Retro devices to separate you from your money.
It’s only been a few days since My Arcade made waves teasing its intriguing collaboration with Atari, and now the company has announced 3 separate products in partnership with Capcom and Namco Bandai.
Essentially, the Gamestation Retro packages up more than 100 iconic games from Capcom and Namco Bandai’s early arcade library and presents 3 unique devices to enjoy them on.
So far, a dozen titles are confirmed: Pac-Man, Galaga, Pole Position, Dig Dug, Mappy, Rally-X, Street Fighter II, Mega Man, Strider, Final Fight, Bionic Commando, and 1942. I would assume that franchise sequels and spin-offs (1941: Counter Attack, Ms. Pac-Man, Pac-Land, etc) get tossed in. And I wouldn’t be surprised if the collection overlaps with the various Capcom Classics Collections. On the Bandai Namco side, it would be awesome to see classics like Super Xevious, Toy Pop, and Rolling Thunder too.
Unfortunately there isn’t a complete list yet, but I’ll report on that when My Arcade publishes it.
You’re probably here for the hardware, though, since My Arcade previously announced the software side of this collaboration. Let’s get into it!
1: Gamestation Retro Go
The first product on this hardware tour is the Gamestation Retro Go. It’s a handheld with an 8-inch display and what I’m assuming will be a 4:3 aspect ratio. The proposed retail price will be $199, which honestly feels a bit steep if we’re comparing this to more ‘universal’ retro handhelds like the Retroid Pocket or Anbernic RG35XX Plus. Then again, there’s a certain charm in having purpose-built devices for certain collections.
I asked the important questions, like what OS is it running, what kind of processor is powering it, what are the detailed display specs, and can users load up their own games without much hassle, but I wasn’t able to get any concrete answers yet. Rest assured, I’ll chase them down. Because those answers will likely apply to all 3 of these products.
2: Gamestation Retro Pro
Here’s what I know about this one: it has 2 rechargeable wireless controllers, outputs at 1080p via HDMI, and will retail for $149. It looks sleek, and I’m digging the placement of the paddle, but I wish I knew more! Does it have any add-on storage options? What’s under the hood?
Gamestation Retro Mega
I’m genuinely excited about this one, despite the scarcity of info. This hits my nostalgia pretty deep, and I can envision myself spending far too many late hours mashing away at Street Fighter II or chasing high scores in many of the other games.
The Gamestation Retro Mega is a tabletop-style arcade cabinet with a nice big 10.1-inch screen and classic wood construction. It will retail for $299.99, a price that becomes easier to swallow if users can sideload their own game collections. That remains to be seen, but I have to believe it’s going to be possible.
All three of the Gamestation Retro devices are scheduled to launch during Q3 of 2025, and My Arcade is previewing them this week in their CES booth. Hopefully in the near future we’ll learn more about this lineup. Until then, happy gaming!
